First Nation Christian School in Fort Hope

On the Fort Hope Indian Reserve, called Eabanetoong in the Ojibway tribal tongue, there is hope for a first-ever Christian school. It is located in the heart of Northern Ontario, Canada.

A former Hudson Bay Trading Company outpost, Fort Hope and the reserve is home for about 1,200 people without road access. Supplies come by plane. The dream of a Christian school is shared by the primarily Christian council who are dedicated to a quality education surpassing the experiences the First Nations people have had with either government or former missionary Christian schools.

This school project represents the hope of WWCS partner Fortress of Hope Ministries. It will mean a brighter future for generations to come. Securing funding for even the first phase has been difficult. Developing a construction plan in such a remote area is still in the beginning stages, but WWCS is seeking donor support to begin the process.
