NCA Fine Arts Center in Managua
The Nicaragua Christian Academy (NCA) Fine Arts Center is an 800-seat auditorium for the performing arts, designed as a location where NCA students can develop and put to use their God-given talents and abilities in music, drama, and performance. It will provide a facility for students, parents, and the larger community to meet for school events, holiday celebrations, and chapel services. But the Fine Arts Center is much more than just a building.
The Fine Arts Center is one of the resources necessary for the school's Fine Arts Program. It is our goal that NCA graduates will be creative, well rounded, and experienced in music and drama. As our music and fine arts program expands, our students will give regular choral and drama performances, school musicals, band and orchestra concerts, art exhibits, talent and comedy shows, and much more. We desire to develop the talents of our students as we teach them how to use their gifts to serve God. We hope that our students may become involved in the mass media and arts culture, seeking to positively transform and reform the world around them.
The Fine Arts Center will also include three classrooms art, music, and drama for student instruction and practice. In addition, the stage will come complete with professional lights and sound, stage and main curtains, backdrops and set elements that can be raised and lowered with ropes, make-up rooms for actors and actresses, and plenty of storage for props and set components. The audio-visual aspects will be controlled from the control booth at the back of the auditorium, and a professional recording studio will be located behind the control booth for music and audio recording. A built-in cafeteria will allow lunches and snacks to be served outside to students during the school day and will provide facilities to operate dinner theatres and banquets inside the facility.
Finally, the Fine Arts Center will serve as a needed resource in the Christian community of Nicaragua. There is currently only one other location of its type, and the costs are prohibitive for many Christian organizations to hold events. NCA will become a center that serves the larger Christian community in Nicaragua. One such organization, organized through the Nehemiah Center for Transformation in Nicaragua, will enable youth across Nicaragua to enter the cost-prohibitive industry of Christian music recording. Other Christian schools, including our own daughter school, NCA Nejapa, will make use of the facilities for performances and large school events. In general, the facility will be a blessing and enabler for many.
