El Verbo Christian School in Tegucigalpa, Honduras

About Honduras: Honduras was hit hard by Hurricanes Fifi and Gilberto, leaving the capital city of Tegucigalpa with about 25,000 homeless people who are now living in Nueva Suyapa, a neighborhood built over the garbage dump of the city. Nueva Suyapa is the poorest community in Tegucigalpa, where the average income is $1.00 per day. Worldwide Christian Schools is partnering with El Verbo Christian School to change the quality of life for the children of this area.
School Profile: El Verbo Christian School is a testimony of dedication and love to the children of one of the worst sections of Tegucigalpa. Gangs and crime rule this portion of the city, but the light of Christian hope burns brightly. School runs almost year-round to keep the children off the streets. More than 600 students benefit from a dedicated staff of teachers. The school needs sponsorships so that they can continue to develop this school and provide resources for the classrooms.
