Reformed Montessori Primary School in Cluj

Montessori-style schooling advances children at their own pace, using non-traditional, hands-on methods of education. Not only does the Reformed Montessori Primary School have a distinctive approach to education, it also holds a unique place in the community as the only Christian elementary and middle school in Cluj.

This school is striving to be the hands and feet of Christ by their mission of serving the street children of Cluj.  These children often have gaps in their education and special learning needs that are well-addressed by the individualized Montessori style of education.  The school's mission states: "Our commitment is to offer an alternative that will nurture children as individuals, bring out their distinctive personalities and talents, and help them begin to discover their special calling from God, and place of mission in society."

From our very first contact with director Sarolta Visky, I could see this school and particularly the Montessori method had real promise here in post-Marxist Romania, especially with children who had been out of the mainstream of classroom settings for years," said Dale Dieleman, WWCS field director for Europe.
