New Life Mission School in Orissa
Students: 165 / Teachers: 9 / Grades: Pre-school - 5th
The Indian state where New Life Mission School is located is home to 50 million people, of whom only 2% are Christians. The area is one of the most neglected states in India with 30 districts that mainly consist of villages without electricity or safe drinking water. Four million people are homeless and two hundred million are nomads. Most of the people are illiterate and trapped into a cycle of poverty. More earthquakes, destruction, floods, cyclones, corruption and persecution against Christians take place here than in any other state in India.
New Life Mission School is a ray of hope in this region. It was established in May 2005 with the goal of providing education for poor and orphaned children. These children have been pulled out of the Hindu schools because they are being mistreated there. At New Life they are experiencing equal treatment for the first time.
The WWCS field partners for New Life write, "We feel that children are a vital part of the Great Commission and we must invest in the lives of those who need it. We assure you that your help and love will help us to reach these children and win them for Jesus. One day surely these children will be the future leaders, testifying about the Lord before many. Thank you so much for your prayerful consideration of being a part of this great challenge in helping children."
