Christian Village Schools

Zambian partner Reformed Open Community Schools (ROCS) is a visionary, progressive partner when it comes to school development. Their approach: partner with the community before building a school. In fact, let the village build it, and then ROCS will come.

ROCS supplies resources such as a steel roof (materials not locally available), volunteer teachers (who, if proven, will receive a degree in education following their service), and, essentials for learning: water and a meal.

But how are these village (or urban) schools going to survive? Through income-generation projects whereby the schools themselves become business-minded. The projects can be small vending enterprises or poultry, goat, or produce gardens or farms.

WWCS encourages partners with this kind of vision. They have inspired other African partners toward this self-reliant approach. What our partners need is "seed money" or "start-up" capital for these self-sustaining programs.
