Kingsway Christian School in Namakwa

About Uganda: A country smaller than Oregon, Uganda lies just west of Kenya. Twenty different ethnic groups call this country home. As in many other African countries, AIDS has taken its toll on Uganda's population. 530,000 Ugandans are living with the disease, and as of 2003, 78,000 had already died.
School Profile: Youth ministry is an effective force for positive change in Uganda. Sam and Milly Erema, Ugandan nationals, have started construction on a Christian high school in the village of Namakwa, a rural community 38 km from the capital city of Kampala where there are no established schools. They want to call it "Kingsway", because students will be taught that God has a plan for their lives, and He will lead them to reach out to their communities and make choices that combat issues like poverty and AIDS.
The village of Namakwa is so small that Sam and Milly quickly realized this new school will need to serve purposes beyond education. Included in the building project is a chapel, health center and clean water facility. "The school will be an agent of development in the community spiritually, socially, and economically," said Milly.
The proposed Kingsway project includes construction of classrooms, a dormitory, the health center, chapel, toilets, and staff lodging. Below is a list of specific needs of the Kingsway High School. Please consider how you can help fund this project, financially or with your prayers.
- Windows for two rooms: one in the boys' dormitory and one in the girls' dormitory
- Installation of electricity in the administration building
- Textbooks (only one book for each subject to begin with)
- The floor of one room for girls' dormitory
- Some utensils for cooking for the students
- Science laboratory equipment
