Tentmakers Academy in Kampala

Tentmakers Academy is located in the capitol city of Kampala, Uganda. The families who send their children here cannot afford the government-run schools because of the cost of the notebooks and uniforms. The small, newly-formed Tentmakers Academy is located in the neighborhoods where these families live. It is run by seven volunteers who teach the 135 children who attend.

Most of the students at Tentmakers are orphans, meaning at least one of their parents has died. Their families cannot afford to pay tuition, so WWCS has partnered with this school to defray tuition costs through donors. WWCS is also raising funds to help Tentmakers build a new school on land they have already purchased.

Tentmakers is already beginning to work on becoming self-sufficient through a jewelry-making project. Volunteers make jewelry out of strips cut from magazines. Each strip is rolled by hand until it forms a beautiful, colorful bead. If you would like to contribute to this ministry by purchasing handmade jewelry from Tentmakers, contact us.

Tentmakers is a fledgling school which needs support to continue and hopefully grow. Please consider how you can contribute to this ministry.
