Tavaku Christian Secondary School

About Nigeria: The country of Nigeria is the largest and most populated country in black Africa. It lies in the sub-region of West Africa. Two main rivers, the Niger River and Benue River, drain it. The country received her name Nigeria from the Niger River, which is the biggest river in the country. Nigeria is divided into 36 states of which Benue State, where we belong, is one of them. Nigeria is a country with many ethnic tribes, over two hundred. This is simply because this part of Africa was colonized by Britain so we now speak and learn English as our language of instruction. Any person in Nigeria who has gone through the normal system of education in Nigeria knows the ABC's of English.

School Profile: Tavaku Christian Secondary School was established in 1982. The local church was able to put up two structures with five classrooms each. Later, the Parent Teachers Association (P.T.A.) was able to construct a two-block with an office attached. In another development, Worldwide Christian Schools was able to lend a hand by building an Introductory Technology Block and a Library which is still under construction.

The primary objective of the church to establish this school, among other things, is to effect a smooth transition from primary school to post-primary institution. The concern of the teachers is to improve standards and encourage genuine private participation in providing adequate care and supervision for children in moral perception.

Please consider how you could support this school in its mission for the quality Christian education of the children of Tavaku.
