Makurdi Christian Secondary School

About Nigeria: The country of Nigeria is the largest and most populated country in black Africa. It lies in the sub-region of West Africa. Two main rivers, the Niger River and Benue River, drain it. The country received her name Nigeria from the Niger River, which is the biggest river in the country. Nigeria is divided into 36 states of which Benue State, where we belong, is one of them. Nigeria is a country with many ethnic tribes, over two hundred. This is simply because this part of Africa was colonized by Britain so we now speak and learn English as our language of instruction. Any person in Nigeria who has gone through the normal system of education in Nigeria knows the ABC's of English.

School Profile: Makurdi Christian Secondary School has begun an HIV/AIDS club with the purpose of educating students on the disease and how to stop its spread. Students can also join a Fellowship of Christian Students club as well as participate in creative art courses in addition to their other studies.

School president John Bisong writes, "Our school is growing in strength due to the grace of God. Christian students are growing in the Spirit day by day. In every term or academic session, Christian activities are lined up to sustain the spiritual growth of the students. We have Bible studies, prayer meetings, and drama presentations. It is our hope that God will continue to support you as you help Christian schools in Africa and especially Nigeria."

Please prayerfully consider how you could help to support this school.
