HIV/AIDS Curriculum
News out of Africa is filled with AIDS, civil wars, famine and terrorism. Other stories, however, are of compassion, hope, and a desire to build up a new generation that will carry a vision for African self-determination. WWCS partners throughout Africa are empowering these future leaders with the tools for building this new Africa through their dedication to Christian schools.
An urgent project that WWCS has partnered with in Kenya is the AIDS Curriculum Project. AIDS reaches nearly every family in many African regions. A biblically-based curriculum called "Hope for Today's Generation" is in its second year of field testing and is proceeding with much enthusiasm from teachers, parents, churches, communities, and children. The focus is to help children make God-honoring choices in life to fulfill their God-given dreams and potential. A section of the curriculum specifically teaches students about contracting HIV/AIDS and how to compassionately care for AIDS victims.
Funds are urgently needed to distribute the AIDS curriculum, which is available throughout Africa as well as in hard-hit countries such as Haiti, through French translation. Please consider joining us here at WWCS to fight the battle against AIDS, and spread the love of Jesus Christ.
Goals of the 'Hope for Today's Generation' Curriculum
- To create awareness of good stewardship of life as God intends it to be.
- To develop life skills and Christian values that create meaning in students' lives that will rebuild our nation.
- To create awareness in students of the presence of HIV/AIDS in our community and how its spread touches the social fabric of our society - plus how to avoid it.
- To instill in students a sense of planning and striving to meet their goals, now and in the future, for the prosperity and development of the country.
